The following history information was gathered from Minites of the Centre Hall Fire Co. meeting minites and not minites from each month, just special interesting facts and times of events that were found interesting.
8/2/1900- a meeting of the citizens of Centre Hall Borough for the purpose of ascertaining which measures might be taken towards the proposition of organizing a company for the letter regulation of out fire dept.
8/4/1900- a regular meeting called to order- Reported that a festival would be held on Saturday evening Sept. 1, 1900 from which proceeds were $65.67 which was paid over to the treasurer (this was the first money raised for the fire co.) A committee was formed to consult with the Borough to locate a building for storing the hose carriage. A motion by the president and secretary were instructed to look up suitable fire alarms and report at the next meeting.
8/17/1900- a constitution and bi-laws were submitted to the members for approval and signature, which upon being approved and signed by 27 Centre Hall Borough citizens to execute the Centre Hall Vol. Fire and Hose Co. the company now organized proceeded to elect its first officers. Also at the meeting a committee was appointed to arrange for a festival to raise funds for the purpose of procuring the necessary for equipment for the fire co.
1/6/1903- A regular meeting was held, a motion was carried that each member pay 25 cents a year for dues. Motion to buy 2 sections of 25ft fire hose.
3/3/1903- a regular meeting was held to report the fire co. bought 50ft of hose and fittings for $40.00
8/14/1906- regular meeting called to order. Audit committee reported $73.50 balance in hands of treasure
11/21/1906- special meeting called to order by the chief for the purpose to ask borough council to purchase hose for the fire purpose and to build a tower to dry the hose.
2/5/1907- Regular meeting called to order to approve change to regular meetings from the 1st Tuesday of the month to the 2nd Tuesday of the month.
4/8/1907- Regular meeting called to order to discuss the tower to dry hose.
9/11/1907- regular meeting called to order where a receipt was received from borough council that $200.00 would be given for the erection of a hose tower located in the bank building.
6/2/1914- regular meeting called to order to report that borough council would build a suitable place to keep the hose and cart.
6/13/1922- regular meeting called to order to motion to move festival to grange park in case of rain in the grange hall.
7/1922- Regular meeting receipt from festival $180.76, meeting to buy 4 rubber coats and caps( First time of buying any type of fire gear costs for 4pair of coats and hats totaled $18.08.
4/7/1927- Regular meeting held to discuss with borough council a switch device for the purpose of receiving a report of a fire to sound a alarm set up by bell telephone company of Pa. |
